New York City’s Times Square is a must-see at some point in your life and even better, is completely free to visit. You can see all the lights, sounds and sights from all angles and there are plenty of police officers on hand to keep the Times Square crowds safe at all times of the night.
It’s crowded and noisy especially at night with all sorts of sounds, smells and activities going on in every direction as well as the constant sound of traffic, honking and sirens to overwhelm the senses.
There are street entertainers, bright lights and colours and a huge array of shops, big and small to cater for the millions of tourists who flood into New York and Times Square every year, all year round.
There are a myriad of eateries and restaurant choices and the cost of a meal in Times Square depends on where you eat. Some restaurants are at the budget end of the scale with some more expensive than others and they cater for all types of foods whether American or international.
The bars and clubs are overflowing with the masses having a fun and entertaining night and the theatre shows and comedy clubs run late into the early morning. Museums and art galleries also tend to stay open late until around 10 or 11pm.
The enormous billboards are constantly flashing and playing adverts and music that can be seen from one end of Times Square to the other and if you venture slightly further afield and out of the main square, the late night choices you have are never ending.
If people watching is your thing, just take a seat at an outside restaurant or bar or a window seat inside and you can people watch for as long as you want, there’s always something happening no matter what time of the day or night it is.
So if you’re in New York City, whether in Spring, Summer or Winter and haven’t been to Times Square yet, what are you waiting for? Believe me, it’s an experience like no other and certainly one you will never forget, especially at night.
