New York City is an amazing place to live but it can be a little intimidating as you won’t know what to expect from the other residents or the various public transport options.

However, if you have a car, getting from Times Square to the Red Bull Arena shouldn’t be too difficult as this venue is located in New Jersey, only about 20 minutes away by car.

By Train To Red Bull Arena

The most convenient way to get from Times Square to Red Bull Arena is by train which runs from Penn Station New York, a short walk from Times Square, to Newark Pennsylvania Station, New Jersey. The entire journey takes around 19 minutes and costs less than $10.

The New York City Subway also runs a shuttle service from the 15th Street Station to Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building and from there, you can take the A Train straight to Red Bull Arena.

This is the best option if you want to see a game at night and if you have access to a rail pass, you can use it to travel throughout the New York City Subway network. 

By Bus To Red Bull Arena

The New York City bus system is also a great way to get from Times Square to Red Bull Arena and the bus routes are pretty easy to follow and you can find detailed maps online.

The best way to get to Red Bull Arena is to take the LINE 108 bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to Raymond Blvd At Providence St, Newark Riverfront Park and after getting off the bus, it’s around a 15 minute walk to the Red Bull Arena.

The buses run hourly and the entire journey should take around 45 minutes and cost less than $5.

By Car To Red Bull Arena

If you don’t have a lot of time to get from Times Square to Red Bull Arena, driving is the most efficient way. The quickest way to get from Times Square to Red Bull Arena by car is straight across the bridge into Weehawken and follow the road round and over the Hackensack River into Harrison, New Jersey.

The entire journey is around 20km and should take no more than 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Getting To Red Bull Arena On Foot Or Bicycle

If you don’t have a car, you can also get to the Red Bull Arena on foot or by bicycle but this is a much less efficient and longer way to get there from Times Square but is an option. There are several different routes for doing this so check out maps online or carry one with you in case you get lost.

1. If you’re going to the game on Saturday, try to get there early as the trains get packed and you’ll have a much easier and less stressful time getting on and off the trains. Try to get to the game as early as possible.

2. You can buy a Metrocard online or at the Metrocard Booth at either the Port Authority Bus Terminal or Grand Central Terminal.

3. You can also bring food and drinks onto the trains and there are several food options near the Port Authority Bus Terminal or you can buy food at the Arena when you arrive. 

4. If you’re planning on taking a train or bus, make sure you’re at the station at least 30 minutes before the train or bus is scheduled to leave.

5. If you have trouble getting to the Arena from the train, ask a cop or passer by for help as they are often happy to help out.

6. If you want to bring a bike onto the train, you can store it in the Port Authority’s bike room.

7. You can also park near the Arena but you need to get there early as the spaces quickly fill up.

8. If you want to see a game midweek, try to make it to the game on a day when the Arena isn’t sold out as it makes it less busy and easier to get there.

So, is it worth the hassle? Well, that depends on how desperate you are to see a New York Red Bulls game.

The good news is that New York City is a very walkable place but the bad news is that this walk from Times Square to the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey is a very long one and the traffic on a Saturday afternoon or a midweek evening around Times Square can be an absolute nightmare.

Obviously for this and many other reasons, i wouldn’t recommend walking there but there are several other options far easier and quicker as mentioned above, so just pick your game and jump on a bus or train and you’ll be at the Red Bull Arena in no time for less than $10 and in under 1 hour, what could be simpler!!
